Rules for Spirit Of Adventure LARP.

-: COMBAT RULES :-
1.We should all be doing this to have fun. If you get mad or uncontrolled, it is up to you to remove yourself from the fighting. A REF may remove you from the fighting if you do not remove yourself. A REF has the right at any time to ask you to sit out a fight or to remove yourself from the fighting for the rest of the day or the rest of the event. If you are asked to do this, you should cooperate immediately with no complaints or arguing. If you have questions about why you were asked to sit out, you should wait for a while until you are calm and can discuss the situation with the REF rationally.
2.You must listen to the REF(s) at all time (they are the referees.)
3.If you have any questions, it is up to you to ask (most accidents happen because people don't have foresight.)
4.This is a sport of honor; treat it as such. If you are caught cheating, a REF may remove you from any combat.
5.There is to be contact with weapons only (i.e. weapons hitting weapons, weapons hitting bodies and weapons hitting shields only.)
6.If you see a harmful or unsafe situation, yell "TIME FREEZE!" (i.e. someone has an unsafe weapon,, gets their glasses knocked off, is about to fall off a cliff, etc....) It is the primary responsibility of a person who is hurt to call a Time Freeze. Before calling a Time Freeze for someone else in an otherwise safe situation, you must first ask if they are all right.
7.If you hear the word "TIME FREEZE," stop immediately!!!! There is to be NO grabbing of an opponent's weapon and/or shield.
8.There is to be NO throwing weapons unless they are specifically designed for the purpose.
9.There is to be NO body contact of any kind (i.e. no punching, kicking, biting, grabbing, etc.)
10.There are to be NO unsafe shield maneuvers that in any way may harm someone else (i.e. NO punch blocking, shield bashing or contact with another person. Your shield is NEVER to be used as a WEAPON.) "Punch blocking" is using a shield to actively parry (with a punching motion) a weapon's thrust. "Shield bashing" is crashing one shield against another. You should NEVER move your shield into a person. It should be used ONLY to block weapons' swings from hitting you or another person standing behind or beside you.
11.Only "safe" weapons and shields are to be used. A qualified REF may be requested to check the safety of any weapon or shield at any time.
12.There is to be NO "Real Steel" in any combat situation at any time ("Real Steel" being metal knives, swords, axes, darts, spikes, spurs, etc.) This is serious. If you even SUSPECT that you might enter into a combat situation, you should not be carrying real steel with you.
13.You may ask a REF to inspect anything at any time if you feel something is unsafe.
14.Use your common sense. If something looks unsafe, it most likely is unsafe
15.HAVE FUN!

-: GENERAL SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS :-
Games are much more enjoyable if you are comfortable while playing. Spending a weekend fighting with terrible sunburn or going home with all of your gear soaking wet can be a fairly miserable experience. If you follow the suggestions in this section, you'll have a much better chance of being comfortable and, therefore, having fun.
Sturdy Footwear -
Shoes, sneakers or boots with good ankle support and a thick sole are a necessity for outdoor events, and for indoor events that involve combat. Most boots have the added bonus of looking somewhat medieval as well. Combat boots are available from most army surplus stores and are designed to be able to take lots of abuse. Buy footwear that fits you properly, and wear good, comfortable socks underneath. Tall socks are a necessity if you're going to be at a site where there could be poison ivy.
- Insect Repellant / Sun block -
Bring some its all we can say.
- Medication -
If you are medically required to use ANY medication, you should bring it with you when playing, even if you think you won't need it. This includes bronchial inhalers, allergy medication, bee sting kits, and any other prescription meds. It also includes medic alert bracelets, which you should be wearing at all times when playing if you require one.
- Safety in the Great Outdoors -
Think before you act. Some things look dangerous for a reason.

-: THE TIME FREEZE RULE :-
The Time Freeze rule is designed to stop any play during game play. If you hear anyone call the word "Time Freeze," freeze wherever you are and cloes your eyes and ears Ignore all goings on. Chances are you won't know who called the Time Freeze or why it was called. That's okay - you should just freeze. Don't ask questions like "Who called Time Freeze?" or walk around. (You may, however, scratch your nose if it itches.) Talking or asking questions is not allowable unless you are the person who called Time Freeze. Don't turn around or get into a position that is more advantageous for you - this would be taking advantage of the Time Freeze. Just stay where you are until someone calls a release from the Time Freeze - the phrase for this is "Time In." When you hear "Time In" called - you may then continue with whatever you were doing before the Time Freeze was called. (Sometimes a REF or the person who called the Time Freeze will call "3...2...1...Time In." In this situation, it is more common to call the "Time In" aloud at the same time that the person counting down calls it.)
Anyone who needs to call a Time Freeze may do so. If you are suddenly injured in battle or need to make sure about a rule that may be in use at that given time you should call a Time Freeze you may NOT call it to ask if you can use a certain rule in the future. If your glasses get knocked off, you should call a Time Freeze. In any of these situations, someone else may call the Time Freeze for you before you have a chance to do it. If you fall but are uninjured, quickly say to the people around you "I'm okay" so that they don't call an unnecessary Time Freeze. Unnecessary Time Freezes impede combat and ruin the mood for everyone, but it is preferable to call an unnecessary Time Freeze than to fail to call one that should be called. If you see a weapon break suddenly in mid-combat, a Time Freeze should be called. The Time In is generally called by either the nearest REF or by the person who called the Time Freeze
.
REFs will sometimes say "Stop Name- !" if they need to make individuals they are REFing stop where they are, but they don't want to stop the entire game. Try to pay attention to REFs, and if you are killed when talking with or stopping for a REF, they should be decent enough to not require you to take the blow.
